Westgate Centre

The former Ipswich Borough Council Civic Offices, its adjacent surface car parks and a 300-space spiral underground car park were acquired from Ipswich Borough Council in summer 2007.

Combined with Turnstone's neighbouring property in Westgate Street, the site covers an area of 3.5 acres and is located between the inner ring road Civic Drive and the prime shopping area of Ipswich.

Demolition of the 14-storey 1960's former Borough Council offices has been completed.

Planning permission has been secured for a retail-led scheme to be known as The Westgate Centre, which will support and complement the existing retail infrastructure of the town.

The Westgate Centre will form a vibrant hub in the heart of Ipswich, with easy access for pedestrians, car-borne shoppers and visitors travelling by public transport. A place to shop, relax or linger on the way to the theatre or the prime shopping area.

Making full use of this sloping site, the scheme will be arranged over a number of levels, providing the opportunity to deliver both innovative architecture and open space to the Westgate Quarter.
